Fernandes Signs

Bolton Wanderers new signing Fabrice Fernandes.Earlier today Phil Gartside allegedly said he was too expensive, now he will be playing for The Wanderers.

Frenchman Fabrice Fernandes has signed for Bolton despite conflicting reports earlier today. The left side midfielder has signed for a one year leaving Southampton on a free transfer even though he still had one more year with the south coast team.

Fernandes had spent some time training with The Wanderers and said, “the talent and spirit in the camp was one of the main reasons why I joined.”

Although he has not played since January Fernandes should prove to be a useful squad member being a left footed midfielder. Now there are 3 left footed players at The Reebok.

The 25 year old’s agent (Willie McKay) is quoted on skysports.com as saying, “all I was told was that Phil Gartside pulled the plug on the deal for financial reasons. He is a cheap player for £6,000 a week as he can play on the left or right side of midfield and he has proved himself in the Premiership.”

Willie continued, “I believe he would have been a valuable addition to Bolton.” Well he would, wouldn’t he!

Sam Allardyce told the BWFC website, “Fabrice will add depth to our side and being a left-sided player he is a rare commodity in the modern game. Once I heard that he wasn’t affiliated to a club, I moved quickly to bring him in.”

Sam went on to give Fernandes high praise saying, “Fabrice is a high-energy player who knows the Premiership inside out. He has a sweet left foot and an abundance of skill, which will complement our talented squad.”
