In and Out of the Transfer Window (Part 2)

Who will be leaving Bolton Wanderers? There has been a lot of speculation about a number of Bolton player who might leave this month, including Mexican Jared Borgetti, the big Finnish ‘keeper, Jussi Jaaskelainen and Tal Ben Haim.

Ramos Ivan Campo – Midfielder

Campo may leave The Wanderers soon to make a return to La Liga, but it is unlikely that he will leave this month. If he were to go now a transfer fee would be required from Real Mallorca.

Campo made comment about the likelihood of leaving Bolton to return to La Liga:

“I have a contract until June 30, so there would have to be a transfer fee paid and I do not know if Mallorca would want to do that. I see a return to Mallorca as very feasible.”

Campo has been a notable liability during his time at Bolton as his tackling technique was less than
professional. He has improved this season and last but recently reinstated is liability to full after getting himself sent off during a reserves for allegedly head-butting Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, an act that Allardyce described as ‘plain stupidity’.

Jared Borgetti – Striker

Borgetti is unhappy at Bolton and wants to leave this month. That’s all you need to know really.

Jared has been overlooked too many time for his liking since joining The Wanderers, although scoring in both the Carling Cup and UEFA Cup – he had the following to say:

“I am worried because I haven’t been given the chances I expected for playing in England. I have been predominantly sitting on the bench and playing only a few minutes in some games.

“I think that I have had some good performances because I have scored some goals, but I need to play more frequently because I want to be prepared for the World Cup.”

Not playing in The Premiership may mean that Borgetti may miss out on being selected for Mexico in this year’s World Cup.

Mexico coach Ricardo Lavolpe has said:

“I am aware about Borgetti’s situation in England and I must say that I am worried because he is one of the most important players of the Mexican national team. He scored 14 goals for Mexico in the qualifiers and we need him to keep in that rhythm for the World Cup.

“If his English team is not going to use him they could give him a loan deal to any Mexican team who would welcome him with open arms.”

In reply Borgetti stated:

“I don’t care in which team I play for in Mexico, I can wear any shirt, it is all the same. All I want to do is to have the chance to play and keep scoring goals because that is all I know how to do.”

I personally feel that Borgetti should have seen more action in The Prem, perhaps while Kevin Davies found his form earlier in the season in the reserves rather than the first team. I hope that Jared will stay at The Reebok, but how many strikers does a team need?

It’s no wonder that Allardyce has problems playing all the forwards with a system that only requires one up front (to start) and with Davies, Vaz Te, Borgetti, Diouf and Pedersen all able to play in that position a loan deal for Borgetti would be beneficial in the long term.

Jussi Jaaskenlainen – Goalkeeper

With a new goalkeeper on his way the future for Jussi is looking uncertain.

There is the ongoing saga about Bolton’s current longest serving player’s contract which is causing the uncertainty. If Jussi fails to agree terms then it is likely that he will be released sooner rather than later as BWFC could demand a good fee for him as he is such a great ‘keeper. Cash in while you can Sam as offers are bound be much higher than the £100,000 fee which saw him move from VPS Vassa.

The problem with the contract seems to be if Bolton were to be relegated player’s wages would go down (too) and Jussi wants this term in his contract removed.

Jussi’s comment on the matter was simply, “it’s out of my hands. I don’t want to go into details. I let the club and my agent sort out things like that.”

There have already been rumours about Jaaskenlainen moving to Arsenal, which, at the time, came as a shock.

Tal Ben Haim – Defender

There has been news about a Chelsea offering Bolton £5 million for Tal, but this rumour was quickly denied by Big Sam. Denial by Allardyce does not necessarily mean that there isn’t a hint of truth – perhaps chairman Phil Gartside forgot to tell Sam the news.
