Incoming Transfers (Maybe)
Trying to keep up-to-date with possible transfer news seems futile at times. Speculation is high while facts and confirmation from club bosses is hard to come by. There are three possible signings which Bolton Wanderers could fulfil (all defenders).
Meite and Cesar are known to have sparked interest from Sam Allardyce, whereas Jlloyd Samuel is pure speculation (we’re still awaiting a reply from him about the possibility of a move to The Reebok). Here is the latest news.
Jlloyd Samuel has said, “my future at Aston Villa at the moment is uncertain” and wants to move from Villa Park. Therefore has been linked to The Trotters.
He has been unhappy at Villa Park for some time as he has not been chosen by O’Leary for many games this season. (Sound familiar?)
Samuel stated recently:
“It has been hard to cope with being out of the side for so long, though. I’m paid to play football and that’s what I want to do. I was back on the bench against Hull at the weekend and hopefully that could be the start of things to come, but obviously if I’m not going to be playing here then I’ll have to consider my future.
“The manager knows my views about the situation. He’s got his plans, and I appreciate it is hard to change a side that is doing well, which we are at the moment, but I still would like to think that I could bring something to the side. I’ve done well in the past and I know what I’m capable of. It’s just about getting that chance. People don’t turn into bad players overnight.”
While he has made public that he is pondering a move from Villa Park there has been no indication that the defender has been or will be approached by Bolton or any other club.
Abdoulaye Meite should be set to play for The Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations but has been refusing to attend training sessions. Ivory Coast’s coach, the now very frustrated Robert Nouzaret, said:
“I think some people have told him that he has a chance to play for France and that’s why he is ignoring us.
“These people are messing with his head by saying that he could play for France. As far as I know, Meite has not been called up for any French team at the moment.
“I don’t mind if players at least tell me, ‘coach I want to be left alone to concentrate on my club career’. Then at least I respect their courage.
“He remains a fine player but at the moment he is being badly advised.”
Could Meite’s aloofness have something to do with his club career? Maybe there are unreported talks between 22 year-old Meite and either Bolton or Newcastle.
There is still a chance that he will end up at The Reebok, defending for The Wanderers, even if he does participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sam showed an interest in Meite, as did Magpies boss Graeme Souness, but both managers demanded that Abdoulaye would have to sign and join immeadiately and not participate in the Nations Cup. While Meite refused to sign before the tournament there is a good chance that he will join either Newcastle or Botlon Wanderers if the clubs are still interested.
According to Deportivo’s president Lendoiro a deal is all but complete with The Wanderers for Martin Cesar. There was some confusion about Cesar between Bolton boss, Sam Allardyce, and chairman, Phil Gartside, but since then Sam has confirmed his interest in the Spanish defender.
