Which Oscar Joins The Wanderers?

Three different Oscars (Oscar Perez the goalkeeper, the famous film award and Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street)

Which of the Oscars above have The Wanderers signed to bolster the midfield? Pictured are Oscar Perez (the Mexican goalie), the famous award, and Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street.

Answer: none of the above…

Bolton Wanderers have enlisted Oscar Perez until the end of the season having been released by his former club Cordoba earlier this month. ‘Released’ mean that Perez was without a contract and therefore free. That’ll keep Phil Gartside happy.

Sam Allardyce told the officail Wanderers website (bwfc.co.uk):

“We have signed Oscar to strengthen numbers in the crucial midfield area. He has played most of his career in the lower leagues in Spain and will mainly get his chance in the reserves and potentially in the first team later this season.

“He has a great attitude to training and with the right application can develop his career in England.”

Oscar PerezThis latest signing does not seem to have solved Big Sam’s defensive problems, nor should Perez be paraded as a replacement for Campo (broken big toe), it looks like Sam has signed him as a player for the future and may give the midfielder a longer contract if he does well in the reserves.

The 24 year-old Spaniard only made 16 appearances for Cordoba since joining in 2004, and has previously played for Eibar, Real Oviedo and Lealtad. All well known clubs.
