Jared Borgetti's Off to the Middle East

Jared Borgetti before leaving BWFCJared Borgetti has signed a one year deal for Jeddah based club Al Ittihad after spending time with the squad on a training camp in France. Borgetti had to make himself comfortable on the subs bench more often than not and that is obviously not where he wanted to spend his second season at The Reebok.

The 34 year old striker made the starting line-up just 12 times (in all competitions) last season and still managed to score 8 times for The Wanderers. Last season Kevin Davies scored 8 goals in total too, but he started 46 times. With such a record the search for a new striker over the summer seemed pointless as there was a world class goal scorer already on the squad, but Bolton bosses have let the Mexican go.

It looks like BWFC were aware that Borg had potential with The Wanderers as this quote from the official site suggests on Jared’s player profile:

Having taken time to adjust to the intensities of the Barclays Premiership, much will be expected from the goalgetter in his second season with the Club.

Bye Borgetti and good luck with The Tigers in Saudi Arabia where you will not be on the bench quite so much I’m sure.
