Who's For Sale?

Stressing once again that funds for a competition winning team are scarce Sam Allardyce has suggested that if the offers for one of the club’s ‘big’ players is high then sell them.

Here’s what Sam had to say:

“I don’t know how much money is going to be available for next year’s transfer budget, but there may be the need for me, as a manager, to recommend to the chairman that we make a sale, to take a big bid for a big player and use that money in conjunction with what the club has found to buy even more, bigger, better and younger players than we’ve already got.

“I see that as a bit of a priority coming round sooner or later. The market for Bolton will probably open up more than it has done over the last six or seven years, when we’ve not even considered selling anybody.

“But I think as the world market inflates we have to look at the changing forces – and if an amount comes our way that we consider as acceptable, I would recommend we accept it.”

The offer of £6m for El-Hadji Diouf was instantly rejected by the club, however, Allardyce joked about the offer,

“Six million for Dioufy! That’s not bad for starters when I only paid three.”

He continued, just to make clear that he was having a jovial moment:

“But I think El-Hadji Diouf, in his form and at his age with his capabilities and there being such a shortage in the world market is worth a lot more than that.”

[Convincing!]

Meanwhile, Diouf’s agent, Alexandre Krstic, admitted that he had spoken to the aforementioned Spanish club:

“Yes, I have spoken with Atletico about Diouf. And about some other players also. But there is nothing serious with the Madrid club.
“Diouf has a contract with Bolton, but Atletico are a great club and the great players want to play for great clubs.

“In addition, the Spanish Liga is one of the best in Europe and everybody would like to play in this competition.”

That’s why Diouf and Anelka are at The Reebok.

It seems fair to say that Diouf will be gone in the summer. If Dioufy goes, will Anelka stay – probably not – so that’s his retirement plan up in smoke.

With Diouf (and Anelka) gone, would Henrik Pedersen be prepared to extend his contract in the summer as he would surely get played as a striker along side Davies.

Perhaps there are other ‘big’ players that huge offers will flood in for…

…then again…

So Allardyce gets a wod of cash to spend over summer and the only interest that has been confirmed recently is Villa’s Jlloyd Samuel. Surely that can’t be it!
How about Sulley Muntari from Ghana? Comments and suggestions of who The Trotters should approach most welcome (use the comment form below).
