After losing to Blackburn a couple of week ago I wrote:

Another disappointing result caused by a disorganised and seemingly lackadaisical squad (not just the defenders this time).

…no change during The Trotters visit to Old Trafford.

Early signs of another massacre where evident as Giggs went close in the 6th minute and Korean Ji-Sung Park should have scored from inside the six-yard box a minute later.

Speed’s challenge on Gary Neville caused the England defender to limp off to ironic chants of ‘bye-bye bye-bye’ from the visiting fans.

The Scum Man United began their slaughter of fellow Greater Manchester team in the 14th with Ji-Sung Park making sure his shot found the goal with a powered strike too low for Jussi.

Moments later it was Rooney’s turn whose goal caused a few Bolton fans to leave the stadium in disgust. A bit early? Not really, Park scored again to make it 3-0 within 25 minutes.

All three goals in the first half where very similar, all of them were from the centre of the penalty area suggesting that there are definite problems with the central defense.

Abdoulaye Faye was the most effective defender and at times looked to be the only Wanderer showing commitment and determination. Diouf had started on the bench but came on for Henrik Pedersen who had picked up another injury [28th]. That might be the last time Peds plays as a striker for at Bolton as his contract expires in the summer.

Early in the second half Kevin Davies came off to be replaced by Teymourian as Big Sam decides to change things round. Bolton looked a little more relaxed (in a good way) as the second half progressed, more organised too.

It took a while to Anelka to show promise with a couple of good shots, but he failed to score what would have been goals that would have served to take Bolton’s goal difference back toward zero.

An almost meaningless goal for The Wanderers was scored from the spot by Speedy. Abdoulaye Faye had been pushed by Nemanja Vidic allegedly and referee Alan Wiley pointed to the spot and the clock ticked toward the full 90. Speed only just managed to score from the spot as Kuszczak got a touch but not enough to keep a clean sheet.

It was all one-way traffic at Old Trafford today as United treated home fans to another convincing win with the latter stages of the game being used as a warming down session as they effortlessly passed amongst themselves.

A terrible result for The Wanderers despite which Bolton remain in 5th position, but lessen their chances of securing a place in Europe next season.
