Ben Haim Cack at International Level Too

Bolton Wanderers defender, Tal Ben Haim, was part of the team that somehow held England in a scoreless draw yesterday evening in Tel Aviv in the UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier.

Ben Haim, managed to get himself booked after a rash challenge on Rooney caused a slight ruckus in which Tal headbutted Wayne with little force. It was a wonder that Ben Haim wasn’t sent off as there were a number of less than professional tackles which equally could have seen the Israeli go into Tom Ovrebo’s little black book.

It’s a shame that Allardyce failed to agree terms with Chelsea in the January Transfer Window. At least there would have been some reward for getting rid of him, now Ben Haim will be at The Reebok until his contract runs out in summer.

Allardyce told the Bolton News recently:

“We can’t afford Tal anymore. He will move on at the end of the season with my blessing and he will get a big club.”

“What happened in January was disappointing because Chelsea made it aware they wanted him but then never made a bid of the significance that would have tempted me to let him go.”Tal wanted to leave, which is understandable, but then all of a sudden Chelsea’s funds appeared to have dried up so they wouldn’t pay the kind of money that would have allowed us to sell him.”

Meanwhile Nicolas Anelka scored his 9th goal for France while earning his 35th cap. Anelka’s goal against Lithuania earned France the 3 points required to take them to joint 1st place in Group B.
