Greek Star Stays
Stelios refuses to move down a league and therefore will not be joining Sheffield United. Fussy git.
Bramall Lane manager Bryan Robson said:
Stelios is definitely dead in the water.” [The cheeky Greek fella rather commit suicide than play for The Blades.]
“He doesn’t want to drop down into the Championship and I couldn’t persuade him to do that. It would have been nice to have him in our squad, but it’s not going to happen and we have to move on.”
Stelios stays but will he make it on to the pitch with The Trotters?
He should if he nicks the Lofty outfit although it would be too big for the 28 year-old.
Stelios only started 11 games last season and spent a lot of time on the bench so his decision came as a slight surprise. There could be more opportunity for him when Bolton start their European Cup campaign.
There had been rumours about Campo joining Giannakopoulos at Bramalll Lane but I think it is safe that this will not be the case and that Ivan will remain a Wanderer too.
At least my missus will be happy.
UPDATE:
Wanderers’ boss Sammy Lee has commented on Steilos and Campo:
“Stelios and Ivan are both Bolton Wanderers players
“I like to keep my dealings in house and that will remain. However, I can confirm that at this late stage it is unlikely that the players will be leaving in this window.”
‘…unlikely…’ So there is still a chance before the transfer window closes at midnight tomorrow night.
