Bolton Give The Blues Their First Home Win
As Wanderers loose their fifth game this season the fans are beginning to get angry with manager Sammy Lee. Bolton ought to be beating the likes of Birmingham City home and away and if Bolton’s form does not improve soon then the club could be struggling to get out of the relegation zone and Lee will be making a claim for Job Seeker’s Allowance.
As for the game itself Bolton looked to be lacking confidence and belief. After Olivier Kapo’s goal late in the first half The Trotters failed to make an a convincing attack until the middle of the second half game when Braaten created a shooting chance for himself. Diouf was the only other Bolton player to get a shot on target albeit in the last few minutes of the match. This included an ambitious free-kick which hit the wall of Blue.
It was the most disappointing
performance of the season so far
Sammy Lee
However Bolton did defend fairly well to restrict City’s score to the single goal. Defending well is crucial but in order to win a game the likes of Nolan and Speed need to sharpen the shooting skills or be more creative to provide Diouf and Anelka a contant flow of goal scoring opportunities.
Bolton boss Sammy Lee told the BBC:
“I can’t take many positives out of this game at all. It was the most disappointing performance of the season so far. I don’t feel we ever really started today. In the past I have been able to take something from the game, but I can’t do that today.
“I’m not looking for excuses and we need to get results quickly.”
I’m sure that today’s result will begin a change in the current BWFC Poll.
