Kevin Nolan: I Give 110% For Bolton

Bolton Wanderers captain, Kevin Nolan spent Friday with Gary Speed coaching local children as part of BWFC’s commitment to the Creating Chances Scheme. It was pissing down raining somewhat as Nobby and Speedy inspired the youngsters with a professional coaching session but Nolan found himself pestered to be interviewed by Ferguson.
Don’t panic it was not Alex Ferguson trying to get him to sign for MUFC. Actually, it was Peter Ferguson from the Daily Mail and the resulting article was quite good.
Nolan told the Daily Mail:
“The last couple of weeks I’ve managed to get myself back in the centre, and if I can keep myself there I’m determined to do really well and make sure the goals come.
“It’s been tough playing on the right, especially when we were on a losing streak. It’s not the best time to be playing out of position. You try your best, but sometimes you do get a bit lost out there.
“I give 110 per cent for Bolton every week. I tried my best in that position and always will. But now I hope that I can keep myself in the centre for the rest of the season.
“You make sure you’re doing the best job for your team, and I think I did, even if people might not think so. Of course I’ve felt down at times. I still do, because we’re second bottom.
“Nobody wants to be down there, certainly not me. I think we’re still good enough to be in the top eight.“
I agree with Nolan, in fact Bolton Wanderers have proved to be good enough to be ‘in the top eight’, just not this season. There has been one major change that has turned Bolton into a club that is struggling in the depths of The Premier League. I’ll not mention it, we all know that Big Sam left leaving Little Sam in charge. (OOPS!)
Big Sam’s departure has obviously had a detrimental effect on The Trotters performance, but now Wanderers have strung together a run of five matches in which they have not been beaten (as Kevin Davies pointed out). Hopefully positivity will reign at the club and the points will raise Bolton slowly to the top half of the table and steady progress will be made in all other competitions.
“This season has been tough. We’re at the bottom and we’re not having a fantastic time. But we’re starting to get there, and once we turn those draws into wins we’ll climb the table.
“I’ve been here before, and there’s no better set of lads I’d rather be with. When we came up, we went through some tough times. I know what’s expected, and hopefully that experience will be useful.
“People forget that, though I’m only 25, I’ve been round the block. I’ve been in relegation battles. But there’s no bunch of lads I’d rather be with in these times than the ones in our dressing-room.”
Only 25? He looks older on the photograph that accompanies the article [left]. I guess that is what happens when you have been round the block a few times.
Kevin seems to be quite positive ahead of tomorrow’s match in which The Wanderers will doubtlessly will battle for their second Premier League win of the season.
Personally I feel confident that there will be a pleasing surprise for BWFC supporters by the end of 90 minutes.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
