Ivan Klasnic Bought, On Loan or Neither?
There are mixed reports about whether Bolton Wanderers are about to sign Croatian international Ivan Klasnic from recently relegated Nantes. It is thought that Klasnic has been flown over to sign with The Wanderers today, but whether he will be on loan from the Ligue 2 side or signed permanently for a reported £3m is uncertain.
All that is moderately certain is that Megson is still looking for a new striker — either that or he’s waiting for Vaz Te to be match fit.
Last season Ivan scored 9 times in 32 appearances with Nantes, but before that he proved to be a prolific scorer for Werder Bremen with 49 goals in 150 games. He has scored with roughly the same ratio at international level too, scoring 11 times in his 35 games for Croatia since 2004.
Sunderland are said to be interested in Klasnic too although this speculation may have been generated because Black Cats manager, Steve Bruce, tried to sign Ivan for Wigan last season.
Whether Ivan is or will be a Wanderer remains to be seen — remember you’ll never know until the obligatory shirt holding photo.
Bolton Wanderers are apparently interested in Newcastle United’s Andy Carroll (as are Wolves) and Leed United’s striker Jermaine Beckford.
The summer transfer window closes tomorrow (September 1, 2009) and we will know for sure if Megson has his new striker.
