Ice Baths for the Wanderers

Bolton boss has introduced a new scheme that he claims will help players cope better with the cold weather when playing. Bolton Wanderers are probably the only football club to use the new therapy.

What is this wonderful new training technique? Ice baths!

Yep, the squad are having their bits frozen off by order of the management.

Icy baths were the order of the day following the defeat by Fulham at Craven Cottage. Allardyce said, “they needed what I would call active rest. It is all about recovering the players as best as we possibly could.

Campo Plays Again

Ivan Campo made another appearance for The Wanderers Reserve team last night – his second since September’s injury. He was substituted at half time but seems to be on the finishing straight to full recovery since fracturing a bone in his foot.

Despite Bolton Reserves loosing 3-1 to Manchester City it is good news that Campo’s injury has healed well. He should make an appearance for the first team early in 2006.

Vaz Te Demands a Start

Ricardo Vaz Te has been pestering Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce for a chance to be in the starting line-up. Tonight might be his lucky night when The Trotters take on Leicester City in the Carling Cup.

With El-Hadji Diouf suspended for tonight’s game Vaz Te will up against Borgetti who has complained about always being on the bench but both strikers will have to bear in mind that Kevin Davies is more likely to start as The Wanderers lone striker.

Sam said, “he [Vas Te] thinks he is better than Nakata, better than Stelios and better than El-Hadji Diouf. He thinks he is even better than Bestie. It’s nothing to criticise him about, but he has just go to be patient. He feels he should be playing in every game and he’s only 19.”

New Shirt for Laurent Robert?

Naughty Laurent Robert
Bolton are being linked to Laurent Robert who had been approached by Allardyce in August when Newcastle put the winger out on loan. Then Laurent chose Fratton Park over The Reebok Stadium. After Chelsea visited Fratton Park Robert slated Pompey chairman, Milan Mandaric, for not being included in the team. Because of this outburst (not the first so it seems) it is likely that Laurent Robert will be leaving Portsmouth.

Apparently Newcastle United do not want the player back and so it is rumoured that The Wanderers are interested again. Could that be true?

As Allardyce expands his squad to cope with domestic and European competitions a winger might be on his shopping list but will Robert be happy to be at another team where some players find themselves on the bench all too often?
