Jaidi and Speed both went close early in the match after Newcastle opened with continued pressure forcing five early corners from which the Magpies failed to create any decent opportunities to score.

Belozoglu Emre took a fine shot midway in the first half which found the upright giving The Wanderers a warning that Newcastle were keen to gain points. Shortly after Kevin Nolan took his first real shot of the game from the edge of the area but former Wanderer Robbie Elliot managed a glancing header sending the ball against the post.

Diouf to Make a Quick Return?

Following an operation for a double hernia Senegal and Bolton Wanderers striker El-Hadji Diouf might be travelling up to Saint James’ Park to take his place on the subs’ bench having made a speedy recovery.

Bolton visit Newcastle United this Saturday in the hope of continuing their success in The Premiership and will be keen to take the full 3 points on offer to bolster their chances of getting a place in the Champions League.

Their will be two absentees for The Wanderers over the weekend. Matt Jansen has picked up a knee injury and seldom seen Nicky Hunt faces suspension following his dismissal in the recent reserves game.
