Home to Liverpool

Bolton Wanderers 2 -0 Liverpool

Ground: Reebok Stadium | Attendance: 25,061 | Referee: Phil Dowd

  • [30] Speed – Bolton
  • [51] Campo – Bolton

Gary Speed celebrates his brilliant free-kick goalOnce again controversy ruled another Bolton game. This time is was a linesman’s error in judgement that sparked self-pity amongst Liverpool fans across the nation. There is no doubt that an error was made by the referee’s assistant (Andy Halliday) when Spanish goalkeeper Reina was thought to have handled the ball outside his area. The result was a free-kick which punished the visiting team as it was struck sweetly into the back of you know what.

There was nothing wrong with the goal it was the free-kick that should not have been given. I say that as I have heard too many times that the actual goal should have been disallowed.

No matter how they got their first goal Bolton found the net again shortly after half-time courtesy of the love god himself, Ivan Campo. Campo left Reina helpless once again with a super header following a perfect cross from Kevin Davies.

Away to Portsmouth

Portsmouth 0 – 1 Bolton Wanderers

Ground: Fratton Park | Attendance: 19,105 | Referee: Uriah Rennie

  • [22] Nolan – Bolton

Kevin Nolan celebrates his winning goal with DioufFinally The Wanderers have managed to get an away win in The Premiership, their first this year. Having gone ahead with their first true attempt Bolton defended well to keep the lead and come away from Fratton Park with 3 points that took them up to 6th.

Kevin Nolan’s goal was well struck after Portsmouth’s Linvoy Primus (defender) failed to clear the ball following a free-kick allowing Nolan to strike the ball with power beyond goalkeeper David James.

It was the first goal that Portsmouth had conceded this season and a loss that deprived them from going ahead of Chelsea at the top of The Premiership. It was a game in which the stats did not add up – Bolton managed just four shots (two each for Nolan and Anelka) whereas the home team had plenty of opportunity with a total of 14 shots.

Bung Free Campaign

Bung Free Campaign free wallpaper
BWFC24 has decided to launch the ‘Bung Free Campaign’ to support Sam Allardyce at this time of media persecution following Panorama’s claims of his involvement in corruption.

The BBC must have felt that there was enough evidence to implicate Allardyce in the scandal of bungs as he was named even though there was no conclusive evidence shown during the programme. Sure Allardyce was mentioned by agents. It is true that Big Sam’s son (Craig) was rather daft when he boasted about his father/son relationship that apparently could be advantageous to football agents.

We all know that there is corruption with the business side of football but BWFC24 is 100% certain that Bolton’s manager has no involvement in such practices.
