In a cruel twist of fate the former Bolton Wanderer’s boss (Sam Allardyce) will be returning to The Reebok on the first day of the new season as manager of Newcastle United.
Could this be Sammy Lee’s biggest challenge of the season?
Both managers will have a point to prove and both will want to install faith of their club’s supporters with a convincing win. There will be more written about the sideline happenings than what occurs on the pitch, that is inevitable.
No matter what the score, the first fixture of the 2007-2008 season in The Premiership is certainly something to look forward to throughout summer.
The return game will take The Wanderers to the north-east on January 19.
