Megson Adds New Scout
Gary Megson has employed Colin Harvey as Chief Scout at The Reebok Stadium. Liverpool born Harvey, now 62, has joined the backroom staff and, according to the official BWFC website will be responsible for, “restructuring the Club’s scouting system.”
Harvey spent over a decade as a midfielder for Everton and returned to Goodison Park to become a successful Youth Coach, winning The 1977 Youth Cup. When Howard Kendall became Everton’s manager Harvey became Reserve Team Coach and on to First Team Coach in the mid 80s, during which time Everton enjoyed became Champions twice, won the FA Cup and the European Cup Winner’s Cup. Kendall left in 1987 leaving Harvey the obvious choice to become his replacement.

Synopsis
“Inside Everton” is 40 years of revelations from Goodison legend Colin Harvey. The book captures Harvey’s recollections from his unique Everton career which saw him make the journey from boyhood fan to apprentice, star player, coach, assistant manager and manager. He figured as a player in a legendary Championship team and was also Howard Kendall’s right hand man through the most successful period in Everton’s history. Harvey would then become an esteemed youth coach. In this role, he figured largely in the rise of a young Wayne Rooney, amongst others.
