Ivan Klasnic is a Wanderer

FC Nantes — Klasnic

After some speculation yesterday it has been confirmed that Croatian international, Ivan Klasnic, has joined Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

Ivan is on loan to The Wanderers for a year and, according to the FC Nantes website, Bolton will have the option to buy the 29 year old striker.

Bolton manager, Gary Megson told the official BWFC website;

“Ivan is a player who we have been tracking for quite a while. His goalscoring record is very good and he has an excellent pedigree at international level with Croatia and domestically in Europe.”

Last season Ivan scored 9 times in 32 appearances with Nantes, but before that he proved to be a prolific scorer for Werder Bremen with 49 goals in 150 games. He has scored with roughly the same ratio at international level too, scoring 11 times in his 35 games for Croatia since 2004.

Expect to see Klasnic on the substitutes bench when Bolton Wanderers take on Portsmouth at Fratton Park a week on Saturday (August 12, 2009). No doubt he will make his debut when he replaces a floundering Johan Elmander after 70 minutes.

Welcome to the club Ivan and good luck!

    Hopefully he can score much needed goals to help Bolton remain in the premiership.

    Well it's not Eidur but we must hope he's better than some of them that Sam got. If he can come on after Davo has softened up the opposition then I think we could be on a winner. Eidur for a new years present please Meggo.

    I hope this will fire up Elmander and they can work together rather than one replacing the other
